The history of Acupuncture in the USA is fairly recent. The initial "discovery" by the American public in general centered around events surrounding the World Ping Pong Championships of 1971. Prior to that, it was primarily known only to Asian groups and several hundred Chiropractors. The first official Acupuncture program offered in the U.S. was sponsored by Columbia College of Chiropractic and presented by Dr. Richard Yennie, DC (Chiropractor).

In 1973, Dr's Pennell and Heuser, both Chiropractors, published The "How to" Seminar of Acupuncture for Physicians one of the first books on Acupuncture published in North America. Love was once considered a highly spiritual emotion. Some sages believed it to be a form of giving that should be extended to society at large, as well as intimates. In the center of the Chinese character for Love is the "heart" pictogram, above is "breath" and below is.

This quote reminded me of our Winter trip to Crystal River, FL to Stand Up Paddle and passively observe the Florida Manatees that gather by the hundreds to rest and keep warm in the clear.

Stress, thought to be the number one cause of illness in the world, comes in three major forms: physical, emotional, and environmental.
Unfortunately our bodies do not distinguish between the three.
The internal and physiological reactions are the same, but the intensities and the expressions - the symptoms - vary from person to person.
To become resilient to daily stress, it is important to help the body maintain optimal balance.
Within the practice, there is a focus on the essential and basic elements to proper physiological function.
Dr. Tony Peters differentiates his practice from many other area offices through the array of holistic services offered.
Each client comes to us for different reasons: pain, stress, injury, or the best possible case - PREVENTION.
Rest assured, every person on our team will work with you to achieve your goals.
While we enjoy our clients, it's not our long-term goal to see them all too frequently.
In fact, many of our clients maintain a wellness regiment of just one visit every 4 to 6 weeks for prevention, maintenance and optimizing performance.
I wanted to add that our combination of the Chiropractic Adjustment and NIMMO TriggerPoint Release is essential to any Yoga or Pilates program for 3 Reasons: 1 Restores movement to stuck joints.
People can "stretch around" locked up areas creating problems in other areas (compensations).
2 Resets the nerve pathway from nerve system to muscle.
Stuck joints can cause "glitches" in how the muscles work.
3 Releases "gunk and junk" in muscles/fascia.
Trigger points and Fascial problems can create pain and inflammation.
Dr Tony Peters is PaddleFIT (TM) Certified, American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certified, and an active member of the World Paddle Association.
He enjoys being on the water for leisure but also enjoys participating in Stand Up PaddleBoard (SUP) racing.
He trains for local and coastal events, and has competed in 5K to 50K races.
Although he's not the fastest paddler, 10 years of paddling have given him great insight into the biomechanics of SUP.
The saddest thing for me to hear is that someone stopped getting on the water because of pain.
