Massage Therapy By Laura Scholz
Massage therapy was amongst my first loves- I drove cross-country from Miami to Seattle in 1992 to go to the Brenneke School of Massage, graduating the following year. My initial career- encompassing a mobile massage business in South Florida, studying Lomi Lomi in Hawaii, working in a chiropractor's office in the Seattle suburbs and running my own practice in Bellingham, Wa- was briefer than I intended.

My daughter was born in 1995, and in the early years of parenting, her nurturing needs eventually trumped my clients', leading me to abandon massage therapy in search of more intellectual, less hands-on pursuits. The years passed- I earned my dimes from non-profits, by painting houses, through Spanish interpreter agencies- and my daughter grew. One day she was a teenager instead of a toddler, and massage therapy called me back once again, whispering and whispering to me until I listened.

I first lived in New Orleans in the fall of 2001, landing back on the West coast by 2005, but never totally severing my bonds with this city.
Services
Each massage I give is a melding of elements from Hawaiian Bodywork (Lomi Lomi), Swedish Massage, and various Deep Tissue techniques, as well as Passive and Active Stretching.
I pull from all of these to tailor each massage session to my client's needs at the time.
I love working with people with chronic pain, helping to identify imbalances in the body and together trouble-shooting to resolve underlying problems.
I often work closely with clients in order to speed up the healing process of injuries as well as to help them better cope with and resolve stress and anxiety.
Raise neurotransmitter levels, boosting your sense of well-being, decreasing both physical and emotional pain, and expanding your capacity for joy and mental clarity.
Regulate blood pressure and increase circulation, which are excellent for the health of your heart.
Increase joint range-of-motion and joint and muscle flexibility, bringing ease of movement and decreasing the likelihood of injury.
Ease the swelling and discomforts of pregnancy, as well as regulate hormones and speed recovery postpartum.
Laura Scholz has been doing body work for me for over a year and a half.
She is one of the most intuitive therapists I have ever had work on me, noticing the subtle imbalances in my body and the root cause of tensions whether it be in my shoulders, hip, or calf.
However, even more amazing than the subtlety, skill and strength of Laura's massages, was the support she provided while I was battling a chronic illness.
She worked with me to find an affordable price and proceeded to help my body heal itself through months of stress and pain.
