Wathen Massage Studio
We are two Massage Therapists dedicated to giving quality bodywork. Our intention is to give you a unique treatment based on who you are and what it is that you would like to have addressed. We have experience treating a wide range of issues and do so in a soothing and therapeutic style, including deep tissue and many other styles of massage therapy.

Although we are not a spa, we do offer a peaceful, clean and private space away from the noises of downtown.

Alice offers a classic massage drawing on over fifteen years of education and practice.
She applies her training in Swedish Massage, Dynamic Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, and Myofascial Stretching to treat conditions such as back pain, sciatica, repetitive strain injuries, thoracic outlet syndrome, headaches, chronic pain and more.
Her interest is in finding results with an emphasis on freeing bodies of tension through making changes in the nervous system and addressing guarding habits.
Brad has been a resident of Nevada City since 1988, has had a massage practice here since 1989 and has been a massage instructor since 1998.
Through the evolution of his practice combined with his training at The Lomi Institute in Sonoma County he has developed a technique called Dynamic Deep Tissue which he has taught at The Phillips School of Massage in Nevada City and teaches at The Massage Therapy Institute in Davis, California as a core instructor.
He works successfully with several issues including chronic pain, sciatica, TMJ, repetitive strain injuries, frozen shoulder, back pain and more.
Fascia is a slick, connective webbing that exists all throughout your body, from the surface of your skin to the nucleus of your cells.
It gives your muscles their shape.
It provides form, communication and electrical tone for your entire organism.
It is a wet, 3D matrix, fractal and beautiful in design, providing dynamic adaptability and cellular exchange.
It is richly innervated, so much so that it can be seen as an extension of the sensory nervous system.
Through it's constant collection of stimulus and its ability to provide shape to the body, fascia is a huge component to the sensory-motor feedback loop that makes your body what it is.
