My therapeutic massage sessions are tailored to the client's needs and concerns.
I believe that a massage session should enhance the body's ability to heal itself and that the process should be pleasurable and relaxing.
Only by "tuning" into the body and reacting to what I feel under my hands can that be accomplished.
I call it massaging smarter not harder!
As a person with Parkinson's, massage is important to maintain the quality of my life.
While I was initially skeptical, I have also came to appreciate how Marie-Christine's energy work extends the benefit of the massage and provides longer lasting relief from my symptoms.
A study conducted at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center suggested that patients who received massage therapy experienced reduced levels of the above symptoms even two days after the massage session.
Massage therapy for symptom control: outcome study at a major cancer center.
In the months following cancer treatment, many people report that their stress remains, even without the demands of treatment.
They might feel anxious, have trouble sleeping, and feel stiff and sore.
Massage therapy can be an important support, helping restore flexibility and fluid movement, aiding sleep, and reducing anxiety and stress.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) is a specialized therapeutic method which uses slow, light, rhythmic strokes that helps the body increase the lymph circulation and decrease edema (excess fluid).
Developed in the 1930s for the treatment of chronic sinusitis and other immune disorders, it is now part of CDT (Complete Decongestive Therapy) which the golden standard for treatment of lymphedema.
Lymphedema. is a condition of localized fluid retention and tissue swelling caused by a compromised lymphatic system.
Myofascial release ( John F. Barnes method) is a very safe and effective hands-on technique applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Fascia, also called connective tissue, is a tissue system of the body.
It surrounds and invades every other tissue and organ of the body including nerves, blood vessels, muscles and bones.
It goes from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.
Trauma, inflammatory responses and/or surgical procedures create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures.
