How to begin?
I guess I should start with the fact that I was always interested in massage therapy, but my first career was in construction.
I never thought to follow my real passion in bodywork and massage until landing in Bali and working on a project building a meditation retreat.
It was there where I decided that enough was enough and at the age of 37 after working in construction for almost 20 years, I decided to return home to Portland, Oregon and apply for massage therapy school.
My passion for learning about the body was sparked there and has not dwindled at all since.
This is for someone who is looking for a general massage to relax and reduce stress.
In this case there is a general goal of releasing stress and improving function, but no specific agenda or issue in mind (although something may present itself through the course of the massage.)
This service can make use of a variety of techniques, but has a much more general approach than the other services.

This service is much more oriented to locating areas of tension, restriction, and stress - and working to unlock them.
The first session with a new massage therapist can present some uncertainties - how much of my clothing should I remove, do I lie face down, where should I put my arms?

From the intake process to table time and after, if there is something you need to feel more at ease, please don't hesitate to let me know.

If this sounds like it could be applied in nearly unlimited ways, you are right - it can!
Deep Tissue is not such a specific modality, but rather can refer to principles used to impact the body in a deeper and longer lasting way.
Whether the strokes are part of the Swedish repertoire, Esalen style, or even spa massage, if the practitioner works at a depth that feels therapeutic and impactful - that's deep tissue.
