I am Celeste Murphy Kreutzer, Licensed Massage Therapist #2082 in Iuka, Mississippi.
I have always been interested in helping people relieve their pain.
As a longtime sufferer of whiplash and other problems that created back pain, I often wondered if there could be a better way to get relief, even long-term relief for conditions that most people decide to "deal with".
Through my search I discovered Myofascial Release using the John F. Barnes approach.
I also began incorporating Neuromuscular Massage which, combined with the Myofascial Release, has greatly improved my pain relief.
Could that accident or surgery you had years ago be affecting your health issues now?
More than likely.
Trauma, surgery, & inflammatory responses create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tension pressure of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures in your body (this would be equivalent to an elephant standing tip toe on some part of your body) that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)
This enormous pressure acts as a straitjacket on muscles, nerves, blood vessels and osseous structures (bones) producing the symptoms of pain, headaches and restriction of motion.
What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?
MFR is a holistic, whole body, manual therapy approach to healing.
Hands on techniques are used to lengthen the fascial restrictions.
Gentle, yet firm pressure is applied into the area of restriction and held for an extended period of time to allow the fascia to release.
By applying gentle sustained pressure into the fascial connective tissue, restrictions release, eliminating pain and restoring motion.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider's web or a sweater.
Stress Relief - Massage is known to alleviate anxiety and improve relaxation, reducing bad temper and jangled nerves.
Anxiety and Depression Management - Massage greatly reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, resulting in lifted spirits and often lower blood pressure; it can also boost the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine, further improving outlook and mood.
Pain Reduction and Management - Eight out of ten Americans will experience debilitating back pain in their life, and studies have shown that massage helped people in pain feel and function better compared to those who didn't receive any massage treatment.
The right answer differs from client to client.
How often you get a massage depends on many factors: Your general health, the reason for getting a massage, how you felt after your last treatment, your time, and your budget.
That being said, here are 3 common lifestyle situations and the recommendations for getting you to a healthy level of comfort.
1 Relief from chronic pain can only be achieved when treatment is given on a weekly or biweekly basis to start, then additional sessions at diminishing frequency over a few months as the condition improves.
