At Coastal Massage and Wellness you will experience therapeutic Shiatsu massage, Craniosacral Therapy and John Barnes Style Myofascial Release. Though less well known, these comfortable and effective approaches are fast becoming preferred choices for many. Shiatsu includes slow, deep compressions as well as stretches producing long lasting relief.

This muscle work is relaxing and pressure can vary according to client's preference. Shiatsu addresses muscle soreness, stiff neck/strain, headaches, spine and back issues, sciatica and other conditions. Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle therapy, highly effective for pain related to chronic and acute conditions especially neck and back pain, TMJ syndrome, whiplash, and migraines.

Myofascial Release - John Barnes style works with the fascial system that is web-like throughout the whole body. With daily stress or extreme trauma this system tightens down and restricts healthy movement resulting in pain.
Services
Accurately understanding your situation and presenting you with an affordable, effective, and comfortable treatment option will be my first step to improve your condition.
At Coastal Massage and Wellness, clients who have not seen significant relief or improvement through a standard massage approach have found Shiatsu massage, Craniosacral Therapy and John Barnes Style Myofascial Release to be the missing piece in their recovery or health support.
My initial exposure and work in the spheres of physical therapy and chiropractic care confirmed my love for helping people feel better by supporting the body's natural design toward self-correction through using complementary bodywork.
Shiatsu, a Japanese term meaning "finger pressure", has an ancient history and is still a common form of massage in the east.
It is also a form of massage treatment in the U.S. and is now practiced in many European countries.
Therapeutic and restorative Shiatsu is a slow, deep compression and stretching, finger, hand, or elbow pressure in various rhythms, and movement of joints and other mobilization of the body producing longer lasting relief.
Shiatsu can be adapted to need, ranging from stress reduction to restoration after sports injury, and is widely appreciated for its medicinal support of the full range of body function.
Craniosacral therapy was first developed by osteopath John Upledger in the 1970s and was based on an approach popularized by Dr. William Sutherland, an osteopath in the early 1900s.
The craniosacral system (cranio means head and sacral refers to the area at the base of the spine) includes the brain and spinal cord.
They are bathed in a craniosacral fluid that has a rhythmic pulse, similar to blood pressure.
The therapist senses the pulse and looks for any subtle restrictions in movement.
If a client experiences restrictions in this system problematic conditions will arise for the nervous system, spine and back, and brain.
