Highlights

read more › Mercy Acupuncture and Massage Center is founded by Dr. Hua Zhen Wang. Dr. Wang is a Licensed Acupuncturist who has been practicing oriental medicine for 20 years. In her 30 years of therapeutic acupuncture practices, Dr. Wang has been treating patients all the way from China to New York City and now in Chicago. Therapeutic Acupuncture is a form of therapy where the acupuncturist uses special techniques to carefully insert acupunctural needles into specific acupoints on the body based on the type of treatment.

read more › On our body there are 365 acupoints and 14 main channels that maintain the balance of our entire body and regulate all the other systems in our body. Each channel serves as a reflective passage way that delivers the vital energy(Chi) from acupoint to all the systems of our body. In order to treat a particular health problem, acupuncturist will manipulate acupuncture needles at a specific acupoint on our body. When the needles are placed at the acupoints, a vital energy is sent from the acupoint to the diseased area via the channel.

read more › Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and can often penetrate the skin with no pain at all. Some areas may be more sensitive and feel like a small pinch as the needle is inserted, but that lasts for less than a second. Once needles are in place, there should be no pain. Acupuncture is an extremely safe medical procedure when performed by a qualified practitioner. Needles are pre-sterilized, single-use, and disposable. Our practitioners have all been trained in clean-needle technique. It has long been hypothesized that acupuncture works only because people expect it to work.
