California Medical Massage is owned by Melly Spohr, Licensed Massage Therapist. At your first visit, a thorough medical history will be taken, and we will discuss aspects of your life, like your job, hobbies, or sports you are involved in, whether you are on your feet, or sitting on your computer all day, or have a job that requires a lot of repetitive movement.
We take all of these things into account as well as your posture, symmetry, and joint range of motion. Together, we can customize the massage to your needs. Your massage may be complete relaxation, a classic, traditional Swedish type massage.
Or your massage may be more clinical in nature, with some massage, some myofascial release, some Muscle Energy Technique or PNF stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation), which is assisted stretch where the client contracts the muscle against resistance, relaxes the muscle and is assisted into a deeper stretch).This lengthens the muscles and can help to increase range of motion, and flexibility.

For areas that need a bit more work, muscle tightness, adhesions, scar tissue, etc. myofascial release may be used, which involves very slow, gentle, but firm sustained pressure to connective tissue with restrictions.
